"They were all asked questions on a wide range of consumer related topics such as food and drink, safety and the environment and consumer law.
"After a nail biting final round Helsby were crowned Northern winners and they had booked their place at the national final.
"This will take place in Bournemouth in June and I hope to be there to give my support and wish them the very best of luck."
Richard Evans, headteacher at Helsby High School said: "The students displayed outstanding knowledge of consumer issues for their age and competed enthusiastically against the other teams.
"The competition lasted until the very last minute when one of our students answered the final question correctly, sending Helsby into the final."
Tytherington High School came a close second and were just two points behind.
